North Colorado Springs Readiness Center

United States Air Force Academy, CO

The building of the North Colorado Springs Readiness Center (NCSRC) represents the culmination of a successful collaboration between the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) and the Colorado Army National Guard (COARNG) to locate a National Guard facility on USAFA property. It supports one Infantry Headquarters company and one Infantry company with a combined manning strength of 344. Although the facility is located on USAFA property, it is outside the USAFA fence line, separated from the USAFA proper by Interstate 25. The singular nature of the site required HB&A to coordinate closely with multiple stakeholders. Sustainable design was a primary focus in developing the design of the NCSRC, ultimately resulting in certification of the project by USGCB as LEED® Platinum.

Characterizing HB&A’s effort on this project as exceptional is well deserved. They overcame numerous challenges including a very high level of scrutiny during design to satisfy our host, the facility is on the US Air Force Academy. Additionally, HB&A stepped up during construction when an error/omission by one of their consultants disrupted construction. The facility has received a LEED® Platinum certification!
