Fort Lupton Readiness CEnter
Fort Lupton, CO
The COARNG Fort Lupton Readiness Center consists of a 35,046 SF primary facility and extensive site improvements located on a 25 acre parcel in eastern Fort Lupton, CO. Functional areas include administrative office space; classrooms; a multi-use assembly area; a simulator training room; a commercial kitchen for meal preparation during drill weekends; a physical fitness area; shower and locker rooms; a small arms vault; and storage for individually issued and unit level equipment. The primary purpose of the Readiness Center is to accommodate the administration, training and logistical requirements of a newly formed infantry company totaling 131 soldiers. In addition to its primary mission, the Fort Lupton Readiness Center is available to host a variety of civic functions and act as a support facility in the event of community or regional emergencies. The Readiness Center has achieved a LEED® Gold certification and incorporates numerous sustainable design strategies including daylight harvesting, a geothermal borefield, a solar wall system, and xeriscape site design principles.
Initially the Ft Lupton Readiness Center was designed by the HB&A team to house three COARNG companies and included a large vehicle storage area and vehicle maintenance facility. Due to State level funding cuts, the project was reduced in scope and mission to support a single infantry company. The initial planning effort and approval through the Fort Lupton public hearing process addressed the larger facility. The development plan for the project was amended and approved through the City of Fort Lupton’s review process to reflect the downsized project, retaining approval for expansion in the future to accommodate the full build-out.
