La Plata Development Guidelines, Review, & Design

Colorado Springs, CO

Residential Design Guidelines

The Farm is an up-and-coming housing development at the North End of Colorado Springs, HB&A was asked to develop new residential guidelines for La Plata Communities. We worked closely with the in-house planning team in delivering vivid and relevant images along with specific verbiage for The Farm guidelines. Material, color palettes, architectural styles, and finishes were all included to create the united brand and appeal appropriate for this community.

Commercial Design Guidelines

Several years after developing the residential guidelines, HB&A provided guidelines for the commercial area of The Farm. This important piece of land is adjacent to the booming growth center at the intersection of Interquest Parkway and Voyager Parkway. Walkable connections from north of Black Squirrel Creek will provide direct access for those living in The Farm residential development and play a key role in how the commercial buildings are sited. HB&A was involved with planning implementing many aspects of these guidelines. As new buildings go in, we will provide architectural comments based on these guidelines.

The Gathering Place Design

The Gathering Place was conceptualized by HB&A to serve as the heart of the development community at The Farm. It contains a gym, a multipurpose community room, a swimming pool, and a children’s area all with amazing views. Its rustic style mimics the land’s previous use, while large overhead doors ensure a constant connection between the interior functions and the idyllic surroundings. Situated on a small lake with patios, decks, barbecue areas, and scenic points of interest, the relationship with the site is critical to the center’s function and success.
