Casa Mundi Downtown Apartments

Colorado Springs, CO

Casa Mundi is a new mixed use apartment building on a small infill lot in downtown Colorado Springs. HB&A designed Casa Mundi to meet the Owner’s vision for a contemporary Latin/Mediterranean vibe, with clean lines and simple massing. The building is four stories with a first floor containing retail or restaurant space and the upper floors have a total of 27 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The infill lot is bordered by buildings on both sides, which required that all the dwelling units face either east or west; the orientation permitted the design to take advantage of optimal views of the vibrant streetscape on Tejon Street, or mountain views of Pikes Peak.

The first floor retail space was designed as a core and shell, with the street side primarily being comprised of store front windows.  The area was designed to accommodate three potential retail shops or restaurants.
