Greenway Flats Affordable Housing
Colorado Springs, CO
Nor’wood Development Group, in conjunction with Springs Rescue Mission, procured architecture and construction administration services from HB&A to design and build permanent supportive housing for residents in need in Colorado Springs, CO.
The purpose of this apartment building is to help the homeless population of Colorado Springs transition to a sustainable life style.
The apartment building is located to the west of the already established Springs Rescue Mission. The building consists of four stories with 65 studio units. The first level will provide a communal dining area, community spaces for meetings, computer stations, and community partnering offices. The remainder of the floors will contain the 65 studio apartments (400 SF) units, with each level initially providing two ADA compliant unit.
Each floor has a small lounge area and laundry room. For security purposes tenant access to each floor is restricted and can only be obtained by key card and then key access to the individual units. The units were designed to house one occupant and include an open living area, built in cabinetry for storage, an enclosed bathroom, a curtain partition to enclose a bed, and the kitchenette area (sink, refrigerator, and microwave). All meals will be provided on the ground floor by the Springs Rescue Mission.
Community garden planter beds were built into the private backyard for tenant use.
