Project Info:
The COARNG Fort Lupton Readiness Center consists of a 35,046 SF primary facility and extensive site improvements located on a 25 acre undeveloped parcel in eastern Fort Lupton, CO. The project was platted and approved through the city of Fort Lupton’s site development review and public hearing process. The Readiness Center achieved a LEED Gold certification and incorporates numerous sustainable design strategies including daylight harvesting, a geothermal borefield, a solar wall system, and xeriscape site design principles. Functional areas include administrative office space; classrooms; a multi-use assembly area; a simulator training room; a commercial kitchen for meal preparation during drill weekends; a physical fitness area; shower and locker rooms; a small arms vault; and storage for individually issued and unit level equipment. The primary purpose of the Readiness Center is to accommodate the administration, training, and logistical requirements of a newly formed infantry company totaling 131 soldiers. HB&A completed full construction documents delivered in phased bid packages to the CM/GC contractor as well as construction administration services.
The site for the Readiness Center is located in a relatively undeveloped area of emerging growth within the city of Fort Lupton at the intersection of two roadways that are identified as arterials in their long-term transportation plan. The prominence of the intersection has been established by the recent construction of two civic structures on adjacent properties: The Weld County Service Center and the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District Facility. The Readiness Center is recognized as an important addition to that civic focus and incorporates an architectural character that acknowledges the existing facilities and the agricultural history of the region. In addition to its primary mission, the Fort Lupton Readiness Center will be available to host a variety of civic functions and act as a support facility in the event of community or regional emergencies.
